Kulik Lodge guide, Bryce Rushbrook, is going to be keeping us to date with regular fishing reports and updates from life on the Kulik throughout the season, and today is his first report!
Take it away, Bryce!
Kulik Fishing Report: June 19 – June 29
Greetings from Kulik Lodge! Our staff has been hard at work for over a month getting camp ready for our first guests and the time has finally come.
The first week of the season was an absolute blast. A solid week of warm, sunny weather and long days on the water had everyone breaking out the sunscreen and stowing the rain jackets, a somewhat unusual thing in Southwest Alaska.
Fishing has been excellent since the season opener. Rainbow trout on the Kulik River are gulping fry with reckless abandon. At times it appears as though the water is boiling. We have been exploring fly out destinations each week in order to get every guest to the best spot at the best time.
King Salmon fishing has started and our first group of guests to make the journey came back with big smiles and plenty of fillets to fill the freezer.
All of us here at Kulik Lodge are looking forward to a safe and productive season. We look forward to seeing all guests both new and returning. Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to follow along on our Facebook and Instagram (@kuliklodge) pages as well!
